1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how Atmosphere Studios (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you install or use Feature It (the “App”), a Shopify application that helps merchants manage and display product ingredient information in their store.

By installing or using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not install or use the App.

This policy applies to merchants and their staff who use the App in the Shopify admin. It does not replace Shopify’s privacy policy or your own obligations as a merchant under applicable law.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you may contact us at the same email and have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

3. Information we process

3.1 Information from Shopify

When you install the App, Shopify shares information with us as needed to provide the service, which may include:

  • Your store domain (e.g. your-store.myshopify.com) and identifiers Shopify provides.
  • OAuth access tokens and session data required to use the Shopify Admin API on your behalf.
  • Depending on authentication, information about the Shopify user using the App (for example, name, email, or user identifiers), as provided through Shopify.
  • The App requests access consistent with its features (e.g. products, files, themes), as shown when you approve installation.

3.2 Information we store to run the App

We hold data in our systems that you or the App create, such as:

  • Ingredient content (titles, descriptions, images or references, ordering, tags).
  • Product and variant references and related metadata used to sync with your catalog.
  • Shop preferences (e.g. onboarding or cached plan-related settings).
  • Sync job records needed to update Shopify reliably.

3.3 Billing

Payments for the App go through Shopify’s billing. We do not receive your full card details. We may receive subscription status or identifiers needed to enforce plan access.

3.4 Storefront customers

We do not keep a separate database of your customers or orders for this App. What shoppers see depends on your theme and Shopify (e.g. metafields). Privacy requests about shoppers are handled as described in Shopify compliance webhooks below.

3.5 Logs and security

We may process technical logs (e.g. server, error, security) to operate and protect the App. If we use analytics or error-tracking tools from third-party vendors, we name them in our subprocessor disclosures or on request at privacy@atmospherestudios.co.nz.

4. How we use information

We use information to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the App.
  • Authenticate requests and keep sessions secure.
  • Respond to support requests via apps.atmospherestudios.co.nz/feature-it .
  • Meet legal obligations and protect our rights.
  • Detect and fix technical or security issues.

We do not sell personal information. We do not use merchant data from this App to run unrelated third-party ads.

  • Contract: providing the App you installed.
  • Legitimate interests: security, reliability, and improvement, balanced against your rights.
  • Legal obligation: where the law requires us to act.

(Primarily relevant for EEA/UK users; New Zealand’s Privacy Act 2020 applies to our handling of personal information in New Zealand.)

6. Sharing and subprocessors

We share information only as needed:

  • Shopify (platform and APIs).
  • Hosting and database providers we use to run the App and store data — specific providers are named in our subprocessor list or available on request.
  • Advisers (e.g. lawyers, accountants) when required.
  • Authorities if we believe disclosure is required by law.

7. Retention

We keep information only as long as needed to provide the App and meet legal requirements. Sessions are cleared on uninstall or expiry as implemented. On a valid shop data erasure request from Shopify, we delete app-held data for that shop in line with our technical processes.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information. No system is perfectly secure.

9. Your rights

New Zealand: Under the Privacy Act 2020, you may request access to and correction of personal information we hold about you, subject to exceptions in that Act.

EEA / UK / other regions: You may have additional rights (access, erasure, restriction, objection, portability). Contact privacy@atmospherestudios.co.nz.

Uninstalling the App from Shopify stops future use of the App tied to that install; some requests may still be handled through Shopify’s compliance webhooks.

10. International transfers

We may process data in New Zealand and in countries where our providers operate (e.g. the United States). If we transfer personal information from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we use appropriate safeguards where required (such as Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent).

11. Children

The App is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect children’s personal information.

12. Changes

We may update this policy and will change the “Last updated” date. Material changes may be communicated through the App or support site where appropriate.

13. Shopify compliance webhooks

We implement Shopify’s mandatory privacy webhooks:

  • Customer data request: We respond based on our records. We do not store customer profiles for this App in our application database.
  • Customer redact: We acknowledge; we do not hold separate customer-keyed records for App functionality.
  • Shop redact: We delete app-held data for that shop when Shopify requires it.
